Creativity and Passions: How St. Victor’s Electives Inspire Lifelong Learners

In our Video Editing elective, Chargers bring stories to life — from sketching storyboards to filming and editing their own projects. Creativity and confidence grow hand in hand when students are given the chance to explore their passions.

At St. Victor School, learning doesn’t stop with textbooks. We believe children thrive when they are given the freedom to explore, create, and discover new passions. That’s why, beginning in first grade, our students participate in a unique Electives Program — a Friday afternoon tradition that balances rigorous academics with creativity and joyful exploration.

🎨 What Are Electives?

Each semester, teachers design and lead classes based on their own talents and interests, and students choose what excites them most. It’s an opportunity for Chargers to try new things, develop skills, and discover hidden passions outside the standard curriculum.

This semester’s electives include:

  • 🎨 Drawing and Arts & Crafts

  • 🎶 Choir

  • 🧵 Quilling (the art of rolling and shaping paper)

  • 🛠️ Makerspace

  • ♟️ Chess

  • 🎥 Creating Videos (from storyboarding to editing)

Whether sketching, singing, problem-solving, or producing short films, our students experience the joy of learning in new ways each week.

What It Means to Be a Charger

To be a Charger means embracing learning with curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Our Electives Program brings this to life by showing students that education is more than academics — it’s about becoming a well-rounded learner.

Here, success isn’t measured by a grade — it’s about the joy of trying something new, even if it’s challenging, and discovering talents you didn’t know you had. Chargers learn that sometimes you choose an elective not because you’re already good at it, but because it looks fun, and that’s how passions begin.

By stepping into a new class, our students gain resilience, celebrate growth, and form friendships across grade levels — all while building confidence in who they are becoming.

Why It Matters

As part of our Student Learning Expectations, Chargers are called to be Lifelong Learners who seek out new opportunities, and Caring Citizens who collaborate and support one another. Electives naturally nurture these qualities by encouraging teamwork, creativity, and self-expression.

Unlike schools that focus narrowly on academics, St. Victor’s approach is holistic: we believe in shaping students who are not only academically prepared but also joyful, curious, and confident in trying new things. That balance is what sets our students apart.

At St. Victor, we believe education should be as joyful as it is rigorous. Our Electives Program reflects that belief — helping students explore creativity, discover passions, and grow into well-rounded learners ready for the world ahead.

Because when your child becomes a Charger, they don’t just learn in the classroom…they discover who they are and who they’re called to be.

Charger today. Leader tomorrow. Christ always.
